10 Day Post-Partum Style and Shrink Down

The last time I took a belly measurement I was 36 weeks pregnant, with polyhydramnios and a 7 pound little one in there. It measured, at it’s largest point, an impressive 42.5 inches. My fundal height topped off the day before my water broke at 40.5cm. Do you know why I like these numbers? Because everything else sounds pretty good in comparison! Oh, and thanks to 8 lbs of swelling/water retention (omg cankles and silly putty feet) in my last week and a half of pregnancy I maxed out at 174 lbs, bringing my total weight gain to 35 lbs. Thanks to the bounty of iv fluids I received during my Pitocin-fueled labor and C-section and in the days after, I’m still sporting baseballs in place of my ankles but the weight has melted steadily off elsewhere.

I kept track of my weight loss since I left the hospital (3 days PP), maybe it’ll give another woman some idea what to expect (if you’ve been pumped full of fluid).

3 days PP: 165 lb (down 9)

5 days PP: 162 lbs    6 days PP: 160 lbs

One Week Post-partum: 158 lbs (down 16 lbs)

8 days PP: 155 lbs     9 days PP: 152 lbs     10 days PP: 151 lbs (down 23, 14 to go!)

I took a few other measurements to compare with later, they’ve likely already changed a good deal as  swelling has gone down, I’ll measure again around 2 weeks out. These are at 6 days post-partum and 160 lbs:

chest: 41″

waist: 36.5″

hips: 39″
